    What is Rimadyl (Carprofen) used for?

    Rimadyl (Carprofen) belongs to the class of drugs called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). It is for use in veterinary medicine in dogs only. Carprofen is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. It is also used to treat post operative pain.

    How to use Rimadyl?

    Carprofen is for use in dogs only. Carprofen should not be used by humans. Carprofen is given by mouth daily when needed for pain. Daily doses are calculated based on the body weight of the dog. 

    The dosage can be given once to twice daily. Your veterinarian will calculate your dog’s dosage.  Give carprofen exactly as prescribed by the veterinarian. This is not recommended for dogs with pre existing liver or kidney disease, bleeding disorders (such as von willebrand disease). They may experience adverse effects from this drug.
