    What is Micardis HCT used for?

    Micardis HCT is a combination drug which contains the active ingredients telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker and hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic.
    They are used in combination to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in persons whose blood pressure was not controlled on telmisartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone. It works by relaxing the blood vessels.
    Some side effects of Micardis HCT are dizziness, upper respiratory tract infections, back pain, diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea and flu like symptoms. It can also affect electrolyte levels such as potassium and sodium levels. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
    Micardis HCT can cause harm or death to an unborn baby and should not be used during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Inform your doctor or if you have a history of heart failure or kidney problems.
