    What is Rifadin?

Rifadin (Rifampin) is an antimycobacterial antibiotic that is prescribed to treat and prevent tuberculosis and other bacterial infections. It is not recommended to treat viral infections such as the cold or flu. Using antibiotics when it is not necessary will make treating future infections more difficult.

    Rifadin Information

    Rifadin dosage

Rifadin is taken orally as often as recommended by your doctor. It works best when taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. If you need to take antacids to treat the stomach pain or nausea commonly associated with the drug, wait at least an hour after taking your dose. Antacids contain ingredients that affect the effectiveness of Rifadin.

The capsules are intended to be swallowed whole. If you have difficulty swallowing the tablets, you can mix the ingredients into applesauce. Combine well and swallow immediately. Do not prepare a dose for future use.

If you are taking this in combination with other drugs to manage an infection, ensure that you follow your dosing schedule to see the maximum benefit. Stopping treatment early or missing scheduled doses may cause bacteria to grow and make the infection worse.

Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if your condition worsens with proper treatment. Do not take extra doses. Taking this too often will not accelerate treatment and can increase your risk of experiencing side effects.

If you miss a dose, you should take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your missed dose, you can skip the missed dose and continue with your schedule.

    How Rifadin works

Rifadin works by killing the bacteria that causes infections.
