Zaroxolyn is a diuretic (water pill) that causes your body to create more urine. This removes excess water and helps to treat high blood pressure. High blood pressure can lead to kidney problems, stroke or heart attacks. Removing water also prevents the swelling and fluid retention associated with kidney disease and congestive heart failure.

Zaroxolyn can be taken with or without food. The usual dose is one tablet orally once a day. Your doctor may need to change your dose based on your history of treatment and your specific condition. Do not change your dose without the direction of your doctor.
Try to avoid taking this before bed. The increased urine production will wake you up to go to the bathroom. Ideally you would take this in the mornings. The latest you can take your dose is 4 hours before bedtime.
